Act as a dedicated coach for a team of junior and mid-level engineers, providing clear career pathways, technical guidance, and frequent feedback. Lead by example. You will influence design, conduct thorough and constructive code reviews, and ensure the team maintains high standards for “correctness” in distributed systems. Drive the transition of existing services into a containerized, microservices-based architecture. Oversee the development and lifecycle of REST and Async APIs, ensuring our SDKs and OpenAPI specifications are world-class. You will evolve production systems at scale, ensuring robust disaster recovery and performance optimization. Collaborate with product management and other R&D teams to define the roadmap for the storage control path. Engage with customers and support when needed to solve production issues
About the Team
The Core Data Path (CDP) team is the architectural heartbeat of the Nutanix Cloud Platform. We are responsible for the software-defined storage layer that powers thousands of enterprise customers globally. Within CDP, the Storage Control Path team builds a high-performance orchestration and management layer that ensures data is stored, moved, and protected with absolute correctness and efficiency.
We are currently evolving our architecture toward a modern, containerized ecosystem. As we scale, we are investing heavily in our people building a team of bright, early-career engineers who are hungry to solve the hardest problems in distributed systems.
Your Role
We are looking for a technical manager who is a “builder” at heart—someone who can architect complex storage software and, more importantly, architect the careers of the engineers who write it.
In this role, you will lead a team of talented junior and mid-level engineers. You will serve as the technical anchor and mentor, guiding the team through the challenges of containerizing our services while ensuring our storage control path remains the gold standard for performance and reliability.
What You Will Bring
Experience: 15-20+ years of software development experience within product-led companies, with a significant tenure architecting and shipping large-scale distributed systems. Technical: Rock-solid proficiency in Go, Python, or Java. While deep K8s internals (controllers, API machinery) are a plus, we value "systems thinkers" who can master new stacks quickly.
Domain Expertise: A proven track record in cloud-native systems, Docker/containers, and large-scale control plane management is a great plus. Leadership: You can navigate ambiguity, drive consensus across multiple teams, and balance long-term innovation with short-term risk/reward trade-offs.
Education: BS/MS/PhD in computer science or a related field.
Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources. Workplace type may vary based on location and team requirements. Please speak with your recruiter for details. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager.
