The Opportunity
We are looking for a hands-on Technical QA Manager to lead and grow the Quality Engineering function for Nutanix Objects. This role combines technical depth, people leadership, and strategic ownership of quality. In addition to defining quality strategy and leading the QA team, the ideal candidate is expected to technically contribute when needed, especially during critical release cycles, complex feature validation, or when the team needs additional depth.
About the Team
Nutanix Objects is a secure, scalable, S3-compatible object storage solution built on the Nutanix Cloud Platform. It is designed for large-scale unstructured data, hybrid-cloud deployments, global namespace, and enterprise-grade resiliency. The Objects team works on complex distributed systems problems where quality, scale, and reliability are non-negotiable.
Your Role
Quality Strategy & Leadership
- Own the overall quality vision, strategy, and execution for Nutanix Objects across releases.
- Define quality standards, metrics, and KPIs to ensure predictable, high-confidence releases.
- Drive shift-left quality practices and ensure quality is embedded throughout the SDLC.
Hands-On Technical Contribution
- Actively contribute technically to quality engineering efforts as needed, including :Test design and review for complex features , Automation framework enhancements . Debugging, root-cause analysis, and deep failure investigations
- Step in to supplement the team during critical releases, high-risk milestones, or resourcing gaps to ensure release commitments are met without compromising quality.
- Lead by example in engineering rigor, technical depth, and ownership.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing QA team across manual and automation testing.
- Coach engineers on test design, automation best practices, and distributed systems testing.
- Foster a strong quality-first culture within the Objects engineering organization.
Testing & Automation
- Oversee functional, integration, regression, scalability, and reliability testing.
- Drive automation strategy and adoption, ensuring scalable and maintainable test coverage.
- Ensure quality gates are well-integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Engineering, Product Management, DevOps, and Support teams.
- Proactively identify risks, influence design for testability, and ensure production readiness.
- Lead defect triage, prioritization, and release go/no-go quality discussions.
Metrics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Track and analyze quality metrics, release trends, and defect patterns.
- Present clear quality insights, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
- Continuously improve QA processes, tools, and workflows aligned with Agile and DevOps practices.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in software quality engineering, with 2+ years in a QA leadership or managerial role.
- Strong technical foundation with the ability to dive deep into complex systems when required.
- Experience testing distributed systems, storage platforms, or cloud-native services.
- Solid understanding of automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and modern QA methodologies.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with object storage systems, S3 APIs, or large-scale unstructured data platforms.
- Exposure to Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, or hybrid-cloud environments.
- Experience with performance, scalability, and reliability testing at scale.
- Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical contribution
Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources.
