The Opportunity

At Prism, we are building the next-generation platform that enables enterprises to model, visualise, and consume applications at scale. As a Staff Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping how customers—both internal and external—interact with and consume APIs across the Nutanix platform.

Our goal is to deliver a highly scalable, reliable, and developer-friendly platform built on strong engineering fundamentals. This role is suited for deeply technical engineers who are passionate about systems design, architecture, and solving complex problems in distributed systems while staying hands-on with production code.

About the Team

At Nutanix, you’ll be joining the Prism team—a dynamic and innovative group focused on building core platform capabilities for hybrid cloud environments. The team is distributed across the US and India and thrives on collaboration, technical rigor, and continuous learning.

We work on foundational API platforms, infrastructure services, and large-scale distributed systems that power Nutanix control plane experiences. The team values strong ownership, thoughtful design, and engineers who are comfortable operating at scale in production environments.

Your Role

  • Write high-quality, maintainable code following established engineering best practices
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to design, implement, and deliver features end-to-end
  • Contribute to backend services and APIs used by internal and external consumers
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical problem-solving
  • Work effectively with a geo-distributed team across time zones
  • Learn and apply sound software engineering principles while gaining exposure to large-scale systems
  • Assist in debugging, performance analysis, and improving reliability of existing systems

What You Will Bring

  • 2–4 years of experience in software development
  • Hands-on experience with at least one systems programming language such as Golang or Java
  • Basic understanding of REST APIs and backend service development
  • Familiarity with Linux environments and fundamentals of concurrency
  • Exposure to containers and Kubernetes concepts (hands-on experience is a plus, but not mandatory)
  • Interest in distributed systems and eagerness to learn about scale, reliability, and performance
  • Awareness of basic security concepts (authentication, authorization)
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and work effectively in a team setting
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Qualifications and Experience

  • BS / MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Around 4 years of professional software development experience
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver production-quality code
  • Experience working in a collaborative, fast-moving engineering environment.
