Engineering Manager (Cloud Infrastructure)
Nutanix
Hungry, Humble, Honest, with Heart.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Nutanix Prism Infra Team in Serbia. The team works on foundational platform capabilities that power enterprise and hybrid cloud management at scale. As Nutanix evolves its next-generation hybrid cloud offerings, this role will be central to building systems that are highly portable across on-prem data centers and public cloud environments, while meeting demanding requirements around reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
Nutanix’s vision of Making Clouds Invisible enables customers to run workloads flexibly and cost-effectively without vendor lock-in. This role is ideal for an experienced engineering leader who remains close to the technology, can influence architecture and design, and can drive execution across complex, distributed systems. If you enjoy building teams that deliver at scale and shaping long-term platform direction, this role offers a unique opportunity.
About the Team
Prism is the control plane of the Nutanix Cloud, enabling customers to manage and operate their infrastructure seamlessly. While the UI team focuses on the graphical experience, the Prism Infra team owns the underlying platform services and API infrastructure that power Prism.
The team is responsible for the API gateway and the complete API lifecycle, including API definition tooling, SDK generation, and server-side code generation. Prism Infra also builds and operates Golang-based services running on Kubernetes, with deep ownership of platform security, application deployment using Helm, disaster recovery for Kubernetes applications, and large-scale system reliability. This team forms the backbone of Prism’s scalability, performance, and operability across on-prem and public cloud environments.
Your Role
- Building, leading, and scaling a high-performing team of senior engineers while setting and upholding strong engineering standards;
- Owning critical areas of the Nutanix Prism Infrastructure platform and driving their long-term technical direction;
- Hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering talent within your team and across Nutanix;
- Driving architecture and design discussions, reviewing code deeply, and influencing key technical decisions;
- Collaborating closely with multiple engineering teams and stakeholders across geographies;
- Providing operational leadership for large-scale, production systems with a strong focus on reliability, scale, performance, and security;
- Leading the Prism Infra organization in Serbia while fostering a strong, inclusive, and execution-focused engineering culture.
What You Will Bring
- 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams, including senior engineers;
9+ years of hands-on software development experience; - Strong expertise in one of Golang, Python, Java, as well as Linux systems, and concurrency concepts, with the ability to reason about performance and correctness in distributed systems;
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, OpenAPI specifications, async APIs, code generation, SDKs, and API lifecycle management;
- Experience building and operating Kubernetes-based platforms, including application deployment using Helm and disaster recovery strategies is a big plus;
- Solid conceptual understanding of distributed systems, NoSQL databases, and large-scale system design;
- Familiarity with public cloud environments and hybrid cloud architectures;
- Strong operational mindset with experience running and evolving production systems at scale;
- Demonstrated ability to influence design, review code thoroughly, and build world-class engineering teams and culture.
