About the Role

Blumberg Capital is looking for a Venture Capital MBA Summer Associate to support the Blumberg Capital Team across all aspects of the investment process. The position requires a motivated, self-driven individual who can quickly learn the ropes of VC investing and plug in as an additional member of the team. This position will provide valuable insight into the world of strategic venture capital by collaborating with internal stakeholders and external startup teams to source and evaluate new investment opportunities for Blumberg Capital.  This is a full time position (40 hours a week) for 10 -12 weeks with a targeted start date of the end of May/beginning of June. This is a paid summer associate position. 

Core Responsibilities

Investment Dealflow

  • Participate in founder pitch meetings, demo days, and curated startup showcases to evaluate early and growth-stage opportunities

  • Proactively source deals through thematic research and targeted cold outbound to high-potential founders

Thematic Sector Research

  • Lead market research initiatives across Blumberg Capital's core investment verticals, including competitive landscape mapping, customer discovery, and interviews with industry experts and operators

Fund Operations

  • CRM Management: Maintain and enrich deal flow, contact, and investor data in Affinity to ensure pipeline visibility and accuracy

  • Operations Support: Build and curate investor lists, thematic target lists, and diligence trackers to support the investment team

  • Founder Communications: Develop outreach templates and manage founder communication workflows to strengthen top-of-funnel relationships

Investment Execution & Diligence

  • Conduct rigorous market, competitive, and business-level analysis on actionable investment opportunities

  • Build financial models, including pro-forma projections and scenario analyses, and evaluate management team composition and strength

  • Prepare capitalization table analyses and model various deal structures to inform investment terms

  • Draft investment memos and IC presentation materials for mid-to-late stage pipeline opportunities

Experience and Required Qualities/Attributes

  • Education: MBA degree in process from a top-tier business school. 

  • Experience: Prior experience in venture capital, investment banking, private equity, management consulting, or a startup. 

  • Analytical Skills: Strong financial modeling, due diligence, and market analysis skills. 

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong networking and relationship-building abilities. 

  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the venture capital industry and the specific sectors in which the firm invests.

  • AI/Transformation Capabilities: Instinct for mapping, rethinking, and rebuilding workflows using AI-first principles.

Additional Details

  • Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week for approximately 10 - 12 weeks

  • Location: New York City (hybrid; expected in-office presence approximately 3-4 days per week)

  • Required Work Authorization:  United States

  • FLSA Status: Non Exempt, Hourly 

  • Reporting Into: Vice President
