The Opportunity

Nutanix, a leader in enterprise hybrid cloud, is looking to hire an experienced Software Test Automation Engineer for Prism Team. If you are passionate about coding and automating complex workflows and build innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment working with extremely smart, passionate engineers, this is the role for you. You will work on hard problems at scale and will have the autonomy to deliver.

Nutanix Prism team

Prism is a distributed resource management platform which allows you to manage and monitor objects, and services across the Nutanix environment, whether hosted locally or in the cloud. Prism Central (PC), in particular, allows you to manage different clusters across separate physical locations on one screen and offers an organizational view into a distributed environment.

Your role 

  • Develop comprehensive test plans, convert them into high quality test cases, automate and execute the tests to validate the functionality and performance of products and services
  • Build and enhance automation framework(s) both from functional and non-functional perspectives and serve as a technical leader in the organization
  • Collaborate closely with developers to comprehend design and implementations, ensuring thorough testing of all features 
  • Perform both manual and automated testing both from API and UI perspective to ensure the high quality of the feature(s) under development
  • Support the regression teams by keeping the Quality Index of released features intact and ensure the stability of existing automation test suites 
  • Identify, document, and track defects until resolution, upholding software quality and integrity.
  • Measure Product quality in terms of functionality, scalability, high availability and usability of the product features

What You’ll Bring

  • Education: Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5+ years of Enterprise software QA and test automation experience
  • Experience in Software Development or Test Automation in one of the following programming languages: Python/Perl/C/C++/Java (Python preferred)
  • Strong fundamentals in Linux Operating systems, Object-Oriented Programming, Algorithms, Data Structures, and Problem Solving
  • Solid Understanding of virtualization concepts - Compute/storage/network virtualization
  • Excellent Skills in debugging complex distributed applications.
  • Strong background in API and UI test automation
  • Good understanding of file system concepts and TCP-IP Suite of protocols Love for finding bugs in the product
  • Willingness to Work in a Hybrid model

Hello, this is Vincent! I joined Nutanix 5 years ago and enjoyed working in the Prism Team right from Day 1. Best part is, I am privileged to lead and manage some of the brightest minds in the organization for the last 2+ years. Before that I was a tech lead in the same team for 3 years. Over the course of the last five years, I got the opportunity to validate and deliver several complex Prism features. Apart from finding bugs, I enjoy contributing to the overall developer productivity through tools development, enhancing existing tools and improving operational efficiency. My team is now actively engaged in taking care of Legacy and v4 API Infrastructure and service containerization stream of work in making the backend services scalable; of which our San Jose team plays a significant role. I’d like to build upon our success in hiring skilled engineers in our San Jose office who can aid in our vision, bring new ideas, and help build a high-quality product.

How we work

We work in a hybrid style, letting everyone in the team come to the office on agreed upon days of the week. This nice balance of office environment and remote work brings the best out of the team. We are trying to minimize the number of meetings and nurture the culture of writing and sharing documents, which helped us achieve a more flexible schedule and transparent knowledge sharing. We also have weekly Nutanix lunch days that are a great opportunity to connect in person with the team and other colleagues.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $116,800 and $234,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
